Owl Pellet Dissection
We had a brilliant practical science lesson this week dissecting owl pellets (even if they did look pretty disgusting!). Looking into owl pellets directly links to our English book Skellig, and helps us understand more about what sort of creature Skellig might be. Scientifically, we used our observation skills to try and classify the bones and skulls we found to work out what animals the owls had eaten recently. We'll also be using the bone classification guides and descriptions to create our own keys to identify 4 of the bones we found.
Check out our finished art work! We think our Aslans are roar-some!! (Lol!)
RE Day: Aslan
We have enjoyed another great RE day learning about activists and people willing to sacrifice themselves for what they believe in. We used the Rebel Girls' stories to learn more about some amazing women who have fought hard for their causes, and then explored the similarities between Jesus and Aslan in the Easter story and the book The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. We developed our art skills to create images of Aslan and show some of his qualities or emotions. We really focused on his eyes and trying to show emotion through them. The art work is still in progress - but check it out so far! We think it looks amazing!
RE Day: Pilgrimage
We have had a great day learning about pilgrimages, Hajj particularly, and then creating our own pilgrimage art work.
We are so proud of the poppies we have made to commemorate the soldiers of WW1 and those that fought and died for our country.
We enjoyed our day learning about our social identity, how to keep ourselves safe, how anti-social behaviour can affect us all and how drugs and alcohol can damage our health.
Cannock Chase Trip
We had a great day out learning more about life in Britain during the 1940s, role-playing life as an evacuee and experiencing an air raid.
Our Class Shelter
We started our topic of learning about life in Britain during World War 2. We listened to an air raid siren and considered the shelter available to us. We built a small shelter in class but comparing it to an Anderson Shelters realized it really wasn't a good shelter at all!...It is cosy though! And we look forward to reading in there over the next few weeks.
