At Tipton Green, keeping safe on line is given a high priority.
Julia Wise, who leads safeguarding in school, works alongside Sue Courtney-Donovan from the local authority, to deliver a comprehensive programme of support and guidance for the children across the school.
The programmes gradually tackle more in-depth issues as the children move through the school and explore quite sensitive issues by the time the children reach year 6.
The programme teaches the children through the following themes:
Year 3: Smartie the Penguin
Year 4- Digi-Duck/Lee and Kim
Year 5- Jigsaw
Year 6- Caught in the web

By the time the children reach year 6, issues such as Cyber bullying, sexting, social media, radicalisation and grooming on line are explored. These are important issues that your children need to be aware of as many of them now access social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, Messenger and Snap chat. They also need to be aware of the dangers they may face when using the internet as well as the wonderful information they can access on-line.
