Sustainable Schools

Our new school building has been designed with energy efficiency in mind. We want to contribute in the reduction of carbon emissions through the adoption of various technologies in our school.

BIO Mass boiler: Not using gas or electricity, using recycled wood pellets which is a renewable energy technology. Biomass is approximately a third of the cost of oil and two-thirds of the cost of natural gas. Also, after energy conservation measures, biomass heating is the cheapest way to reduce energy bills and reduce carbon emissions

-Solar panels: There are solar panels on the roof that will heat water. Solar energy will work as free source of energy which will save money and will reduce carbon emission.

-Lighting: Automatic lighting system around the schools. Intelligent sensors monitor movements and light intensity in all of the rooms where work is carried out during the day, and these sensors switch the lights on and off when necessary. With the automatic lighting system it is impossible to leave the light on by accident anywhere, to ensure no wastage of energy.

-Low energy laptops and computers: We are replacing older generation  desktops (~ 350W) with laptops (~50W) and apple macs(~30W). This will help us save electricity cost and reduce carbon emissions.

-Some solar lights : There will be some solar lights in the school which again will save electrical energy and reduce carbon emissions.

-Energy efficiency of the school itself because it is a two storied building with triple glazing.  Heat loss will be significantly reduced by triple glazing.

-Heat absorbing concrete flooring- Retains the heat, not losing the heat to the atmosphere

-A computer will be installed to monitor the energy used by the school which will be a learning tool as well as a monitoring tool.
