Welcome to Year 4 at Tipton Green Junior School. This year we have three classes of approximately 30 children each.

In Year 4 we cover the three core subjects of Literacy, Numeracy, Science as well as ICT and Foundation subjects which are themed as far as possible.

We encourage children to complete regular pieces of homework as well as regular reading practice at home. By Year 4 they should be familiar with all the multiplication tables up to 10X10 as these form the basis for a lot of the work completed in numeracy.

On Wednesday afternoons all children in Year 4 take part in curriculum enrichment activities, under the supervision of our dedicated support staff and also some outside agencies. They will be learning how to gardening, play chess, take part in various craft activities, participate in musical activities, learn another language etc.  

Children need their kit on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. It is important that they have appropriate kit in school for this. It is a legal requirement that all children take part in P.E. activities unless there is a medical reason preventing this. They should also be discouraged from any jewellery on days when they participate in P.E.

Each class will also go swimming at Tipton Baths during one term. Lookout for letters telling you when your child's class will be going. You can collect them from the baths at around 3:20 or we bring them back to school at around 3:30.
