This year in Year 4 we will be studying the themes of:

India/Pakistan – clean water and different places - in the Autumn Term
Oceans and explorers and adventurers - in the Spring Term
Europe – Living together and fashion - in the Summer Term

Children are required to produce a project on India finding interesting facts about the country.

Numeracy - place value, space and shape, measures, developing their understanding of the four written methods and applying them to word problems.

Literacy - developing their understanding of sentence structures and ways to improve their writing. Children will be writing stories set in imaginary worlds, stories from other cultures and stories which raise issues. They will write newspaper reports, explanation texts and poetry.

Science - Children will be planning and carrying out their own investigations and studying the topics: Separating solids & liquids, circuits and conductors, Moving and growing, keeping warm, habitats and Forces & Friction.

Homework will be set as and when required by their teachers. Children should make sure though they read every night and know their time tables. Generally children have literacy and numeracy homework once a week.
