Transition Task for Secondary Schools
Transition English Writing Task
For one day this week – we would like you to work on your English writing transition task. All children coming into school this week will be working on this in school. If you are not coming back into school – choose which day you want to complete it on.
This is a task that has been set by Sandwell high schools so that all children joining them in September have worked on the same tasks and shown them what they can do. Every child will have their work sent onto their secondary school.
All the information on the slides explain what the task is, and include some warm up activities to help you then plan, draft and write a neat copy of your work.
Please email your finished work to Mrs Wise at:
Transition Art Task:
Within this week we would also like you to complete the front cover for your “All about Me” transition booklet. This will be the booklet of your work that is sent to your secondary school.
You need to complete a self portrait of yourself – using pencil crayons or felt pens, as well as answer some questions about yourself.
Again, once completed, please email your finished page to Mrs Wise at:

Continue with the 23 Degrees 5 Minutes tasks (see homeworking packs).
WOW! JK Rowling is publishing chapters from her new book - The Ickabog - online everyday from Tuesday 26th May free so children can read something new and fun in Lockdown.
Find it here: https://www.theickabog.com/
There is also an art competition linked to the story. Each day, JK Rowling will suggest drawings or paintings you could create linked to that chapter. You can then enter them to be in with a chance of having them chosen to feature in the book when a hardback copy is released later in the year! How exciting!
Happy Reading! :-)

In case any of you are stuck for books to read while we are off school - here is a book I found online:
Our Pride of Aslans
RE Day Aslan Art
RE day this term was roar-some! We studied people and characters who were willing to fight and die for their causes. We learnt about Malala Yousafzai, Andree Peel, Sophie and Hans Scholl and the character Aslan to name but a few. Check out our art work in progress. We used chalk pastels to create images and are trying hard to show Aslan's emotion and personality. We'll post our finished pieces in a week or so but here's a sneaky peek so far.
Trip to Safeside
We had a great day out recently at Safeside. We learnt all about different ways to keep safe and make sensible choices while out and about and while at home. For example, did you know firefighters suggest we all have a "Check it Tuesday"? They suggest you check the batteries in your smoke alarms every week. :-)
RE Day Pop Art Words
We had a really enjoyable RE day this term learning about stories in Holy Books and what impact they can have on people. We focused on the plagues stories in the Bible and ended the day by creating Pop Art style illustrated words. All of the words we illustrated were words that linked to the themes or qualities shown in the stories. We hope you like them!
We had a great time recently building our own lego robots and programming them to move using coding. Here are a few of our robots!
Visit from the Major and Trip to Haden Hill House
We have thoroughly enjoyed learning about the events of World War 2 this year. Here's our gallery of pictures from our visit from Major Smythe and our visit to Haden Hill House to learn about life on the home front:
