Welcome to 6HS!
Year 6 have had a wonderful time celebrating the end of their time at Tipton Green. In the past few weeks we have enjoyed an exciting trip to The Pioneer Centre, become the next Jimmy Choo by designing our very own designer slippers and embraced our creative sides by making Greek pottery.
Happy New Year!
Starting from Wednesday 6th January our normal class lessons will be moving online and will be taught live through Teams (the programme we watch assemblies on in school).
Each day online lessons will be taught and you will be required to join the lessons with me.
Any resources that are needed will be saved in the home working pack (access through the school website: Children / Homeworking Packs - scroll to the bottom of the page for the link).
Some of the activities (often maths) or tasks set as part of the lesson will be completed on Century as you have used this in school. The website, username and password is listed below this message on the class page. Additional nuggets may be set as well for further learning and we will also ask you to photograph your longer writing task each week and upload it to Century so we can see your work. This will allow us to see which areas you are confident with and which areas you may need a little extra support with.
Please remember to read your reading book every day and take the time to have a go on Times Table Rock Stars.
Stay Safe and hope to see you soon!
The white rose web page will enable you to follow the step by step lessons with independent learning opportunities for you to complete.
Remote Learning in 2021
The Year 6 staff are so so proud of how hard you have been working during the most recent lockdown. The resilience and positivity that you have demonstrated has been incredible and the amount of work that has been submitted over the past few weeks has been wonderful. Thank you for all of this hard work, super engagement during the lesson and for keeping each other smiling. You make each day count Year 6 thank you for being our rays of sunshine. Keep it up. You should all be proud of yourselves.
What a term we have had 6HS. Life has definitely been a little different this term with remote learning, google classrooms and teams assemblies but you have taken it all in your stride and achieved amazing things. I am so proud of all of your hard work and effort. Here are some examples of our home learning that we would like to celebrate! Fantastic we are so proud of you Year 6! Thank you for sharing.
Our thoughts on home learning.
I like home learning because it is something new and trying new things is always great. I have enjoyed working with the other class and hearing their ideas. My favourite part is the end of the day when we share a story together. Zoe
I like seeing other people have their moment to shine online- Hafsa
I really enjoy seeing the teachers and being able to have access to all of the resources that I need to help me to learn at home. Amrit
I have loved the learning that I did today. Safiyah
I like being able to have contact with my friends through school even though we have to stay at home.
We ended the term with a little festive magic by taking part in some enjoyable end of term treats including watching an enjoyable online Christmas concert performed by Year 3, a virtual trip to the theatre to watch a live performance of 'The Gruffalo' which we thoroughly enjoyed, Christmas jumper day and finally by finishing off the term with a cinema morning complete with popcorn, hot chocolate and treats.
A Blast to the Past with Prof. McGinty
We have really enjoyed investigating life in World War 2 this term as part of our History learning, to help us with our historical enquiry we enjoyed a workshop with Professor McGinty. We had the chance to explore some amazing first hand artefacts and learnt lots along the way.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
