Admissions Policy
Tipton Green Junior School seeks to be open to all the community, regardless of ethnicity, creed or gender. Although ideally we would like to accept all applications for places in our school, constraints of class size mean that this is not always practical; therefore, we have a strict set of criteria by which admission to Tipton Green Junior School is determined.
Determination of which applications for places at Tipton Green Junior School are accepted is made by Sandwell Local Education Authority on behalf of the school, as part of their co-ordinated admissions scheme. Responsibility for informing parents of the success or failure of their application to Tipton Green Junior School also lies with the authority. As a local authority-funded school, it is also the authority’s role to establish the entrance criteria.
Dealing with applications
It is likely that staff at the school will be asked about applications, especially from parents/guardians who already have children at the school. It is therefore advisable that staff should ensure that they are offering correct information.
All those enquiring about places for children in the school, be they for next year’s Year 3 or for a child who is new to the area, should first be told that applications are handled by the Local Education Authority. The contact details that parents/guardians will need are available from the school office staff.
