Diwali celebrations at Tipton Green 2018
This year to celebrate Diwali (festival of light) we had a Diva lantern competition in school. We designed lamps and two winners were chosen (it was very difficult to choose 2 as some many children had been very creative).
Take a look at some of the children's creative lanterns...
And our beautiful display in school...
G Dhol drumming workshop- Nov 2018
Year 5 had a Dhol drumming workshop as part of their RE lesson. They had a workshop session with the very talented King G, where we had lots of fun and then performed to year 4 and 6 in assembly. Everyone was wiggling and dancing to the drummers and King G amazed us with his performance.
He is returning to school in a few weeks, after he attempts to break a Guinness world book of records in Indian, to do a dance workshop with Year 6. We can not wait!
Remembrance at Tipton Green
In school this week, we have been remembering the people who lost their lives in the two World Wars. Year 5 have been completing a project in the holidays where they had to produce something around the topic of poppies. They made some lovely items.
In school
Children in all year groups created some lovely poetry .
Year 6 visited the Cenotaph at Victoria park to show their respects. They took wreaths they had made, read out poems and had one minutes silence.
The rest of the school made beautiful displays, paintings and clay poppies. Well done everyone. They look beautiful!
Year 3 display
Year 4 made stained glass poppies
Many children made pictures from different mediums.
Year 3 made their own felt poppies by sewing them. They were so happy to wear them!
