Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome back to the new school year! We hope the children are well and are looking forward to making a start on their new learning at Tipton Green Junior School.
The Autumn term is always a busy time for our Year 3 children who are settling into their new school. This year we have lots of exciting topics, all of which deliver the programmes of study for the National Curriculum. Our topic in Autumn term will be ‘The Stone Age’. For more details about our learning in each subject this term, please see the attached Curriculum Overview.
Our Year 3 children will take home a reading band book and a library book of their choice, which they will have the opportunity to change on a weekly basis. Please practise reading with your child regularly at home and make a comment in their reading diary. We ask that children bring their books and reading diary to school with them every day. Spellings will also be given out each week to practise at home, with a test the following week.
Please can we remind parents that no jewellery should be worn in school with the exception of stud earrings, and in line with Health and Safety guidelines these should not be worn on PE days. Children will be asked to remove earrings before PE sessions. Please ensure that children wear the correct PE uniform for school on PE days only.

Class 1, 2 and 3: Mondays and Fridays
Please ensure that all clothing is clearly labelled with your child’s name and class. Labelled water bottles should also be brought to school each day with water only, which can be refilled in class.
Just a reminder that children in Key Stage 2 do not receive universal free school meals. If you think you are eligible for free school meals, please contact the school office.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to speak to your class teacher, who will usually be available while dismissing your child at the end of each day. We anticipate a busy and exciting term and we thank you in anticipation of your support.
Yours sincerely,
The Year 3 Team
