Our class is named after the well known author, Benjamin Zephaniah. Born in Birmingham in 1958, Benjamin Zephaniah is a celebrated poet and performer.
His poems frequently tackle social issues such as homelessness and injustice, and he has travelled through every continent performing his work.
Nowadays, he spends most of his time living between China and England, inspiring the next generation to begin writing.

Whether you are part of the class or someone who hasn't done things in a while and need a refresh...In this section you will find lots of things to help your child at home. Below are the methods we use and the basics the children should be secure and confident in already, in order to access year 5 work.
Children should really know ALL of their multiplications by the end of year 4! There are some helpful songs we used in class below to get these etched into our brains at home.
Have you heard about our reading challenge?
Children must read 10 times every 2 weeks. Every time they read they must get an adult at home to sign their planner. When they have read 5 times they can come and get a stamp off Miss Clarke and a chain for our class. The class with the most reading chains at the end of the term get a whole afternoon of treats! The children who make the most progress/ have read more than x5 a week every week, will also get a bonus reward. DON'T MISS OUT! READING IS THE KEY AND WILL HELP YOU IN ALL YOUR LESSONS!
COME ON GUYS YOU CAN DO IT! EVERYONE IN 5 ZEPHANIAH NEEDS TO COMPLETE THE CHALLENGE SO WE CAN WIN THE YEAR 5 CHALLENGE!
