Monday 9th March 2026 - Wednesday 11th March 2026

Welcome to Year 4's blog! We will be sharing updates throughout our stay. Please check back to see all of our adventures!

Day 3

All bags are packed, bedrooms have been checked and breakfast has been enjoyed. The children are now getting ready for their final activities of the trip before lunch and the journey back to Tipton Green.

It has been a wonderful experience with lots of smiles, teamwork and new memories made. Everyone is excited to squeeze in a few last adventures this morning before we set off for home.

After breakfast, the children returned to their rooms for the morning inspection. Staff checked that beds were neatly made, belongings were put away, and the rooms were tidy and organised. This encouraged responsibility and teamwork as everyone worked together to ensure their shared spaces were clean and presentable.

Once the inspections were complete, the children split into different groups and rotated through a range of activities during the morning.

One group took part in the challenge course. This included a series of tunnels that the children had to crawl through, testing their confidence and determination. They also completed a “blind line” activity where one child was blindfolded while their partner guided them along a rope pathway using clear instructions and reassurance. This activity focused on trust, communication, and teamwork.

Another group participated in orienteering. Using maps and compasses, the children explored the outdoor area while searching for checkpoints. They worked together to read the maps, decide which direction to travel, and locate each marker.

Meanwhile, a different group attended the archery session. Under the supervision of instructors, the children learned how to hold the bow correctly, aim safely, and shoot arrows towards the target. They enjoyed practising their aim and trying to get closer to the centre with each attempt.

By rotating between activities, all groups had the opportunity to experience each challenge while developing teamwork, communication, and confidence throughout the morning.

Day 2

Everyone is excited and ready for a full day of activities, challenges, and adventures. After filling up our plates and chatting with friends, we’re all set to head out and make the most of our residential experience.

We are having so much fun!

This evening, we went on a night walk following a trail. It was dark, so we used our torches to help us see where we were going. The beams of light shone on the path as we walked, and we listened to the quiet sounds of the night around us.

After walking along the trail, we reached the wishing willow tree. Its long branches hung down all around us. We stopped there for a moment and looked at the beautiful tree.

We stood quietly and made our wishes before continuing our walk. It was a fun and special experience exploring the trail at night and visiting the wishing willow tree. 🌙🌳

The Adventure Begins...

Year 4 have arrived at Frank Chapman safely and have had a fantastic start to their residential trip!

After unpacking their bags, the children had a tour of the building and the surrounding grounds. They then enjoyed some free time on the big field, where they played football, cricket and other games with their friends. ⚽🏏

This afternoon, some of the children took part in bushcraft. They worked together to build shelters using twigs and leaves before putting them to the test with a “rain test” to see how well their structures held up! 🌿

Others had the opportunity to try crate stacking and climb the high All Aboard challenge, showing great teamwork and bravery. 🧗

After a busy afternoon, everyone made their own beds and sat down to a delicious dinner of pizza, chips and beans. 🍕

This evening they are taking part in the 101 Challenge, where they answer questions by running around the venue to find the answers – a great way to explore and work together!

A fun-filled first day and lots of tired but happy children!
