Making Learning Delicious!

A Scientific Look at Toothpaste in Year 4!
This week, Year 4 became dental detectives! Our science investigation focused on how brushing helps reduce tooth decay and whether different toothpastes have different properties. Today, School council kicked off our Safer Internet Day 2026 with an assembly. They talked about this year's theme - the safe use of artificial intelligence. Number Hunt on Number Day!
Children worked in pairs to hunt for maths problems hidden around the classroom. They had to read each clue carefully, discuss their ideas, and work together to solve the problem before moving on to the next clue. This activity encouraged teamwork, reasoning and problem-solving skills, as well as building confidence in applying their maths knowledge in a fun and active way. Cooking Club Masters the Art of Shortbread
Cooking club made delicious shortbread today. The children carefully followed the recipe and learnt important baking techniques, such as measuring ingredients, mixing, and kneading the dough. Our Young Violinists in Action
Some of our children have been learning to play the violin and have been fascinated by the new skills they are developing. They learned how to hold the violin correctly in rest position and mount position, and practised a piece called “Pepperoni Pizza,” which uses notes that go up in pitch. They worked hard to play in time and together, listening carefully to one another and showing excellent focus and teamwork.

A Thoughtful Visit to Year 4
Year 4 Our lovely visitor from this morning’s assembly stayed on to spend time with Year 4, where the children took part in a thoughtful and engaging question-and-answer session. Learning About Ramadan and Eid

Year 5 Art
Children in Year 5 were asked to recreate the texture and impression of a wall on a polystyrene tile, which they then printed into their books. This activity links with the next lesson, where they will build on their work by adding a further piece of artwork inspired by the style of Banksy. The children used printing ink to create their prints, experimenting carefully with texture and pattern.

ECO Ambassadors Launch Battery Recycling Bin!
In the ECO Ambassadors’ first meeting of the academic year, they discussed new ways we can recycle more and reduce waste in school. One idea the children were particularly enthusiastic about was introducing a battery recycling bin — and they went ahead and ordered one themselves! Now, any used batteries we have in school will be placed in the battery bin provided. Batteries should not go into general waste, as they are a fire hazard in bin lorries and at landfill sites.
