Year 3 and 4 had a fantastic healthy eating workshop with the school nurses this week. 🥗 The children learnt about the Eatwell Plate and how it helps us to understand the different food groups our bodies need to stay healthy. Children’s Mental Health Week provides an important chance to reflect on how we all look after our mental and emotional health. Today, School council kicked off our Safer Internet Day 2026 with an assembly. They talked about this year's theme - the safe use of artificial intelligence. School council shared with the school why we are taking part in Safer Internet Day, when we might use AI in our day-to-day lives, and also told the school what to do when things go wrong when using artificial intelligence and who to talk to. This was just the beginning of our day - classes also took part in a live lesson

Today, Year 3 were transported through a magical portal into a world of dragons and magic! They had the experience of looking at a magical new world, where a dragon stands guard over a feast of fruit and cakes. This was all part of our stimulus for our new writing unit based on the text 'elf road', a magical short story about a young boy who goes through a portal and meets mysterious elves guarding a magical feast.

Year 3 children are doing their part to keep the school grounds clean! They were out on another litter-picking adventure, working together to ensure our school community remains tidy and inviting.

Year 3 have been learning about right angles as part of their NCETM maths mastery journey. They began by exploring turns, before investigating what makes an angle a right angle.  They found out that there are 4 right angles in a full turn using their angle makers and angle checkers in small groups! Children in Year 3 have been taking great care of their school community by helping to keep our grounds clean and tidy. Armed with litter pickers and plenty of enthusiasm, the children worked together to collect rubbish and make a positive difference to their environment. This activity helped pupils understand the importance of looking after shared spaces and taking responsibility for their surroundings. They showed excellent teamwork and a real sense of pride in their school

Years 3 & 4 science club had lots of fun making earthquake proof structures. Using jelly sweets and cocktail sticks, we tested each structure to ensure the it could withstand earthquake conditions. The children all did really well and even managed to not eat any of the sweets!!

Year 3 Year 4 Children in Year 5 created paper chains with how to be kind on them and they also created a Grinch bauble as a keepsake. They were successful in their attempts to warm up the heart of the Grinch as he bought their presents in the afternoon. In School Council's Autumn school survey on technology, pupils expressed an interest in using computers to create art. As a result of this, this week in Year 3, we looked at a character description of the Grinch and had a go at using an online platform called Tate Paint to create a piece of digital art. This afternoon, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 all took part in an exciting book swap session full of stories, discussion and a real love of reading. The children paired up across year groups and took turns sharing their books, listening carefully as their partners read aloud with expression and confidence. For our Science topic ‘Magnets and Forces’, Year 3 have been learning about friction and how it affects moving objects. We set up an investigation to find out how an object moves on different surfaces. We found out that smoother surfaces create less friction, allowing an object to travel further. This week, our children took part in a special assembly led by the NSPCC  about the importance of staying safe and speaking out. During the session, the children were introduced to Buddy , the NSPCC’s friendly green mascot. Buddy is shaped like a speech bubble to remind us that it’s always important to speak out  if we ever have any worries or if something doesn’t feel right. Year 3 went back in time on Tuesday 21st October to the Stone Age! On our trip to Tanglewood, Year 3 got to experience life as a real Stone Age hunter-gatherer. We first got to see how a real Stone Age person would have dressed and what they would have looked like. Then,  we got to create our own tribes and had to survive a day in the life! As we approach the half-term holiday, we are planning a special project to commemorate Remembrance Day. We would like to invite our students to create a poppy at home during the break. These poppies will be part of an outdoor display at school, honouring those who have served and sacrificed for our country.
