World Book Day 2026
We had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day in school. The children came dressed as their favourite book characters, and it was fantastic to see so many creative costumes around the school. Reading Week
Our reading ambassadors led an assembly at Silvertrees Infant School. Using the book Wombat Stew by Marcia K Vaughan and Pamela Lofts, they told the story about a very clever Dingo who had caught a wombat and decided to make a gooey, brewy, yummy, chewy wombat stew! Year 6 Virtual Reality

Safer Internet Day
Today, School council kicked off our Safer Internet Day 2026 with an assembly. They talked about this year's theme - the safe use of artificial intelligence. School council shared with the school why we are taking part in Safer Internet Day, when we might use AI in our day-to-day lives, and also told the school what to do when things go wrong when using artificial intelligence and who to talk to. All That Blood
This week in science, Year 6 explored the components of blood and the important jobs each part performs inside our bodies. National Storytelling Week

Exploring Chichén Itzá with Google Earth – Our Year 6 Adventure!
This term, Year 6 have been diving into the fascinating world of ancient civilisations, and one of the highlights of our learning has been our virtual journey to Chichén Itzá—one of the New Seven Wonders of the World ! Pizza, Teamwork and Fun in Cooking Club!
A great start to Cooking Club this spring term for Years 5 and 6! The children made healthy pizzas by spreading tomato purée onto wraps and adding a range of toppings, including mushrooms, peppers, sweetcorn, ham and pepperoni. They practised cutting vegetables carefully and safely, worked well together, and showed responsibility by helping with washing up and cleaning the tables afterwards. Year 6: Is Yeast a Living Thing?
In science, we carried out an exciting investigation to answer the question: Is yeast a living thing? To test this, we added warm water, one teaspoon of sugar, and a packet of yeast into a bottle, then carefully stretched a balloon over the top. We predicted what might happen and watched closely. Year 6 Writing Inspired by The Nowhere Emporium
Year 6 have thoroughly enjoyed delving into the mysterious story of Daniel Holmes, Mr Silver and the incredible “Nowhere Emporium”. Here is what we have achieved so far. We have written some fantastic setting descriptions based on the opening night of the emporium-we have included sensory imagery and figurative language to book and engage our readers. Grinch Day continues...
Year 3 Year 4 Children in Year 5 created paper chains with how to be kind on them and they also created a Grinch bauble as a keepsake. They were successful in their attempts to warm up the heart of the Grinch as he bought their presents in the afternoon. Sharing Stories Across the School!
This afternoon, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 all took part in an exciting book swap session full of stories, discussion and a real love of reading. Robots, Mazes and Teamwork for Year 6!
This week Year 6 have taken part in an exciting STEM ( Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) workshop that combined creativity, teamwork and lots of hands-on learning. The challenge?
