Robots, Mazes and Teamwork for Year 6!

This week Year 6 have taken part in an exciting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) workshop that combined creativity, teamwork and lots of hands-on learning. The challenge? To design and build their very own robots using Lego—and then program them to navigate a tricky maze!

The session started with groups planning and constructing their robots. Every team came up with a different design. Once the building was complete, the real test began: programming. Using simple coding tools, the children learned how to give their robots instructions, experimenting with directions, timings and movements.

There were cheers, and plenty of laughter as robots zoomed forward, spun in circles, or occasionally went off course. But with perseverance and collaboration, every group improved their designs and code until their robots could successfully find their way through the maze.

The workshop was not only great fun—it also encouraged problem-solving, communication and resilience. We were so impressed with the children’s creativity and teamwork.

Well done, Year 6! We can’t wait to see what you engineer next.
