A Mysterious Crime Scene Sparks Imaginative Writing!
Children in Year 4 were horrified to discover that the book corners in their classrooms had been wrecked. Pages had been torn from books, leaving the scene in complete disarray. Luckily, CCTV footage captured the culprit: a mysterious figure wearing a hooded cloak, with their face hidden from view. The children used a wide range of adjectives, expanded noun phrases and modifiers to describe the appearance and personality of possible suspects, creating vivid and imaginative de

Year 4’s New Art Topic
Year 4 have begun an exciting new art topic based on tie-dye and quilt making. We started by learning about the colour wheel, exploring primary, secondary and tertiary colours and how they are created. The children were also introduced to complementary colours and discussed how different colour combinations can be used to create striking designs. This topic links closely with Science, as we learned about Isaac Newton and his discovery of the colour spectrum, helping the child

Year 4 Bake Bread!
Today, in Design and Technology Year 4 planned and designed their own bread. The children began by exploring different ideas and deciding what type of bread they wanted to create. Once their designs were finished, they followed a recipe carefully and used a range of ingredients, including plain flour, yeast, warm water, salt, sugar, and oil. After preparing the dough, each child personalised their bread by choosing their own extra ingredient. They could add cheese, currants,

Stay Safe, Speak Out – NSPCC Assembly
This week, our children took part in a special assembly led by the NSPCC about the importance of staying safe and speaking out. During the session, the children were introduced to Buddy , the NSPCC’s friendly green mascot. Buddy is shaped like a speech bubble to remind us that it’s always important to speak out if we ever have any worries or if something doesn’t feel right. The assembly helped everyone understand that all children have the right to: Speak out and have their

Poppy Project!
As we approach the half-term holiday, we are planning a special project to commemorate Remembrance Day. We would like to invite our students to create a poppy at home during the break. These poppies will be part of an outdoor display at school, honouring those who have served and sacrificed for our country. While we would love for every child to participate, please note that this activity is not compulsory. If your child wishes to join in, they can use any materials they have

Black History Month in Year 4
In Year 4, we learned about significant Black people who made a difference by standing up for what was right. We studied inspiring figures such as Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, and Malcolm X. We also explored modern-day inspirational Black people, including Usain Bolt and Mo Farah. We read some of their most powerful quotes and each chose one that inspired us. Then, we created bold and colourful artwork using felt-tip pens, adding our chosen quote to make our picture st
