In DT this week, Year 4 developed their sewing skills as part of their textiles project. They learned how to thread a needle, tie a knot, and sew a simple design onto the front of their cushion. Year 3 and 4 had a fantastic healthy eating workshop with the school nurses this week. 🥗 The children learnt about the Eatwell Plate and how it helps us to understand the different food groups our bodies need to stay healthy. This week, Year 4 became dental detectives! Our science investigation focused on how brushing helps reduce tooth decay and whether different toothpastes have different properties. We began by learning what tooth decay is and what causes it. The children carried out a hands-on investigation comparing a range of toothpastes. Today, School council kicked off our Safer Internet Day 2026 with an assembly. They talked about this year's theme - the safe use of artificial intelligence. School council shared with the school why we are taking part in Safer Internet Day, when we might use AI in our day-to-day lives, and also told the school what to do when things go wrong when using artificial intelligence and who to talk to. Year 4 ​ Our lovely visitor from this morning’s assembly stayed on to spend time with Year 4, where the children took part in a thoughtful and engaging question-and-answer session. They asked insightful questions about Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), learning about the influence he has and why he is so important to Muslims. Year 4 pupils  took part in an exciting and creative animation workshop led by Engagedu, where they explored both digital drawing and stop‑motion animation techniques. The workshop began with pupils using iPads and a stylus to design their own stick‑figure characters using the app Flipkit. They learned how to duplicate their drawings, erase selected parts of the image, and make small changes to each frame. By repeating this process, pupils created simple animations of their s

Year 4 enjoyed a great PE lesson focusing on cricket fielding skills, learning how to create strong long bridges. The children worked together to roll the ball accurately and ensure it was stopped before rolling past them, showing excellent teamwork and control throughout the session.

Years 3 & 4 science club had lots of fun making earthquake proof structures. Using jelly sweets and cocktail sticks, we tested each structure to ensure the it could withstand earthquake conditions. The children all did really well and even managed to not eat any of the sweets!!

Today, the children recapped their prior learning about human organs and revisited the journey of food through the digestive system. We reminded ourselves of key organs and new scientific vocabulary, thinking carefully about how food moves through the body and changes along the way.
