Healthy Eating Workshop

Year 3 and 4 had a fantastic healthy eating workshop with the school nurses this week. 🥗

The children learnt about the Eatwell Plate and how it helps us to understand the different food groups our bodies need to stay healthy. They explored how fruits and vegetables should make up a large part of our meals, why carbohydrates give us energy, how protein helps our bodies grow and repair, and why dairy supports strong bones and teeth. They also discussed why sugary and fatty foods should only be eaten occasionally.

The nurses talked about the importance of regular exercise and how being active keeps our hearts healthy, strengthens our muscles, and helps us feel happier and more focused in school. The children shared lots of ideas about ways to stay active, including sports, walking, dancing and playing outside.

They also learnt why drinking plenty of water is essential. Water helps our bodies stay hydrated, supports concentration, prevents headaches and keeps our organs working properly. The children were reminded that water is the best choice for keeping hydrated throughout the school day.

It was an informative and engaging workshop that helped the children understand how to make healthy choices every day.
