Some of our Upper Key Stage 2 children have been developing their violin skills and showing fantastic progress. They are becoming much more confident in holding the instrument correctly, remembering their rest position and playing (mount) position independently. They have been practising how to hold the bow with the correct grip and are learning to control their bowing technique to produce a clear, steady sound. Some of our children have been learning to play the violin and have been fascinated by the new skills they are developing. They learned how to hold the violin correctly in rest position and mount position, and practised a piece called “Pepperoni Pizza,” which uses notes that go up in pitch. They worked hard to play in time and together, listening carefully to one another and showing excellent focus and teamwork.

The choir performed brilliantly at the Christmas concert, truly getting into the festive spirit. Mrs. Wise added a special touch by making cupcakes and serving hot chocolate topped with cream, marshmallows, and sprinkles for parents and children to enjoy.

Our school choir had a wonderful and memorable visit to the Council House! The children were thrilled to meet both the Mayor and Santa — and were delighted to each receive a special present. The choir performed a selection of songs, bringing smiles to everyone in the room. They sang beautifully and represented our school with pride, confidence, and plenty of Christmas cheer! For our Science topic ‘Magnets and Forces’, Year 3 have been learning about friction and how it affects moving objects. We set up an investigation to find out how an object moves on different surfaces. We found out that smoother surfaces create less friction, allowing an object to travel further.
