Wednesday 16th July
On Wednesday afternoon, proud families gathered in the school hall to enjoy a high-energy Rock Steady concert — and what a show it was! After just a term and a half of practice, our young musicians took to the stage in style, performing in four unique bands with names they proudly chose themselves.
Each band brought its own energy and flair, showcasing the incredible progress they've made in a short space of time. The Ostriments opened the show with a heartfelt and moving performance of "Stargazing" by Myles Smith, setting a thoughtful and emotional tone. They were followed by the Lightning Rockers, who delivered a punchy, rhythmic version of "Seven Nation Army" by The White Stripes, complete with signature bass lines and electric stage presence.
Next up, the Fire Rockers lit up the hall with a bold and vibrant cover of Katy Perry's "Firework", featuring dynamic vocals and powerful beats. To round off the concert, the Space Rockers closed with a fun, confident performance of "All Star" by Smash Mouth — a crowd-pleaser that had heads nodding and toes tapping.
Each band featured a full line-up of singers, guitarists, drummers, and keyboardists, many of whom had never played an instrument before this year. In just a few months, the children have grown tremendously in confidence, built strong teamwork and character, and formed lasting friendships through their Rock Steady sessions.
Parents and staff couldn’t have been more impressed — the final round of applause was loud, long, and well deserved.
Well done to all our young performers — we can’t wait to see (and hear!) what you do next.
