On Friday 12th December, our drama club had a fantastic afternoon at Sandwell college. We had front-row seats to a pantomime of Alice in Wonderland, performed by the performing arts students studying there. It was funny, silly and made us laugh out loud! We were amazed at the costumes and very excited to be in a real theatre and loved getting involved in the audience participation parts of the show. We even got to have a photo with Alice at the end!

The choir performed brilliantly at the Christmas concert, truly getting into the festive spirit. Mrs. Wise added a special touch by making cupcakes and serving hot chocolate topped with cream, marshmallows, and sprinkles for parents and children to enjoy.

As the hot chocolate toppers were so popular last week, Cooking Club used a similar method to make their very own Christmas chocolate bar. First, we melted milk chocolate and layered it into the shape of a Christmas tree. Next, we melted white chocolate to create the tinsel decoration. Then we added sprinkles and Smarties to make colourful baubles, and finally topped our Christmas tree chocolate bar with a chocolate star. It looked wonderfully festive — and tasted even better

Our school choir had a wonderful and memorable visit to the Council House! The children were thrilled to meet both the Mayor and Santa — and were delighted to each receive a special present. The choir performed a selection of songs, bringing smiles to everyone in the room. They sang beautifully and represented our school with pride, confidence, and plenty of Christmas cheer! Well done to all our talented singers for making the day so special.

More science club fun! We have been testing forces and made a table football game (perfect for a Christmas gift!) featuring lots of famous scientist players - who knew Isambard Kingdom Brunel was such a great goalie??!

Today in Cooking Club we made our very own hot chocolate toppers, perfect for a cosy winter or Christmas drink! The children melted both milk and white chocolate, then carefully added a lollipop stick to each one. They had lots of fun decorating their toppers with marshmallows and sprinkles to make them look extra festive. Everyone made a topper to take home and share with someone special in their family. Today we made shortbread using just three ingredients: plain flour, caster sugar, and unsalted butter. After carefully measuring each ingredient, we used our hands to knead the mixture together. We talked about how important it is to use the correct measurements when following a recipe. Once the dough was ready, we scored the top with a fork and sprinkled a little extra sugar over it. In Animation Club, the children began applying plasticine to their armature figures, carefully shaping their characters and bringing their ideas to life. Exciting steps toward their very own stop-motion animations!

Science Club have completed and hung out their recycled bird feeders tonight! We were visited by our local wild parakeets who were very hungry and very loud!

In cooking club, we made healthy vegetable skewers by cutting up fresh vegetables such as peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes and onions. We then added pieces of chicken or halloumi to create a colourful and balanced snack. For a sweet treat, we made fruit skewers, carefully cutting a range of fruit into chunky pieces before threading them onto sticks. Both dishes were quick, healthy and fun for the children to make.

During Cooking Club, we rolled up our sleeves and made a batch of delicious chocolate brownies! Using our recipe, we learned how to measure ingredients carefully, use kitchen tools safely, and follow step-by-step instructions to bake the perfect treat.

Science Club had an exciting session today! Using vegetable oil and bicarbonate of soda, the children experimented to make their own lava lamps. By mixing food colouring with white vinegar, they created a fun chemical reaction with the bicarbonate of soda — resulting in a bubbling, lava lamp effect! The children were amazed to see science in action and loved watching their colourful creations come to life.

The children are really enjoying their time at Animation Club! This week, they’ve been busy creating colourful backdrops for their short films. Using their imagination and creativity, they designed scenes to bring their stories to life. We can’t wait to see their finished animations!

This week in Science Club, the children got hands-on with a fun and creative STEM project — building their very own scribble bots! Scribble bots are simple robots that move around and draw patterns on paper, and the kids loved experimenting with them. Each bot was made using a small motor, a battery, and a few craft materials, like cups, markers, and tape. Once assembled, they watched in delight as their bots vibrated, wobbled, and scribbled across the paper.

The children had a fantastic time in Science Club! They were amazed by how the eggs looked and felt after being soaked in different liquids — a fun and fascinating experiment!

Tuesday 14th October 2025 In Cooking Club, we made a healthy version of spaghetti Bolognese. We began by chopping peppers and mushrooms, then added them to a mixture of chopped tomatoes and Quorn mince. While the sauce simmered, we boiled spaghetti until it was cooked. We learned that using Quorn mince and plenty of vegetables is a healthy way to make this classic dish, reducing fat while still keeping it tasty and filling.
