After enjoying a well-earned half-term break, Gardening Club visited the Secret Garden to see how much had changed since we were last at school. The children were excited to discover that many of the vegetables in our vegetable patch had started to grow, and the herbs were looking healthy too.
As part of caring for our garden, the children helped to pick up any litter they found and made sure all of the plants were well watered. Some children also brought back the plants they had grown from seed at home. As these seedlings had grown bigger, we replanted them into the vegetable bed where they will have more space to continue growing.
Back in the classroom, the children began designing their own tabletop gardens. Next week, they will use trays to create miniature gardens of their own. They came up with lots of creative ideas, including adding soil for plants to grow in, pebbles to create pathways, and even using yoghurt pots to make small ponds. We are looking forward to bringing their designs to life, and once they are complete, the children will be able to take their tabletop gardens home to enjoy.
Plans for our tabletop gardens!
