Red Nose Day was a fun and meaningful event in our school. The children came to school wearing an item of red to show their support. There was a great sense of excitement and community throughout the day. Everyone made a fantastic effort, and it was lovely to see so many creative red outfits. The children also donated money, helping to raise funds for an important cause. Overall, it was a successful day that brought everyone together while supporting others in need.

Year 4 took part in an exciting investigation linked to our class book Kensuke's Kingdom. We began by asking the question: Why do boats float but rocks sink? The children learned that boats float because their shape allows them to push water aside and spread their weight, while rocks sink because they are dense and cannot displace enough water. We had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day in school. The children came dressed as their favourite book characters, and it was fantastic to see so many creative costumes around the school. Our reading ambassadors led an assembly at Silvertrees Infant School. Using the book Wombat Stew by Marcia K Vaughan and Pamela Lofts, they told the story about a very clever Dingo who had caught a wombat and decided to make a gooey, brewy, yummy, chewy wombat stew! Children’s Mental Health Week provides an important chance to reflect on how we all look after our mental and emotional health. Throughout the week, children have taken part in activities linked to wellbeing, self-expression, and understanding what helps them feel grounded and supported. To celebrate the end of the week, children have Dressed to Express!

Today, School council kicked off our Safer Internet Day 2026 with an assembly. They talked about this year's theme - the safe use of artificial intelligence. School council shared with the school why we are taking part in Safer Internet Day, when we might use AI in our day-to-day lives, and also told the school what to do when things go wrong when using artificial intelligence and who to talk to. Thank you to our wonderful wellbeing ambassadors for leading this mornings assembly. They introduced Children’s Mental Health Week and explained why looking after our mental health is just as important as looking after our physical health. The slides helped pupils understand what mental health is, how it can affect our feelings, thoughts and behaviour, and simple ways we can look after our wellbeing, such as getting enough sleep, spending time with others, being kind and doin

Children worked in pairs to hunt for maths problems hidden around the classroom. They had to read each clue carefully, discuss their ideas, and work together to solve the problem before moving on to the next clue. This activity encouraged teamwork, reasoning and problem-solving skills, as well as building confidence in applying their maths knowledge in a fun and active way. The children showed great perseverance and enthusiasm throughout the challenge.

On Number Day, all children across the school took part in the Soccer Rocks competition on Times Tables Rock Stars. Children were excited and highly motivated as they answered multiplication questions at speed, earning points for their teams. The competition encouraged friendly rivalry, teamwork and resilience, with children challenging themselves to improve their accuracy and recall. Year 3 Year 4 Children in Year 5 created paper chains with how to be kind on them and they also created a Grinch bauble as a keepsake. They were successful in their attempts to warm up the heart of the Grinch as he bought their presents in the afternoon. Year 6 Children in Year 6 created some Grinch digital art and made a Grinch keepsake!

The Grinch has been spotted causing chaos in classrooms and corridors, leaving behind cheeky surprises and plenty of laughter.

We have had an exciting day celebrating the festive season with our annual Christmas Jumper Day and Christmas Dinner!
