Year 4 enjoyed an exciting and immersive Roman Day, where they stepped back in time to experience life in Roman Britain. Throughout the day, the children took part in a range of engaging activities that brought their history learning to life and helped deepen their understanding of the Roman Empire. One of the highlights of the day was learning about Roman numerals. The children explored how the Romans represented numbers using letters and practised reading and writing them.

Year 5 brought all of their science learning to life with an exciting trip to the National Space Centre in Leicester. During the visit, the children explored the fascinating exhibits, discovering a wealth of facts about space and science. Year 4 have been busy getting creative as they designed and made special Father's Day cards for the important people in their lives. The children created superhero-themed cards, using their cutting, folding and decorating skills to produce unique designs. We’ve just left London after a fantastic afternoon of sightseeing in the sunshine! The children have been amazing and have walked over 4 miles today. We enjoyed a play in the park at St James’s Park and even had a front-row view of the Changing of the Guard thanks to a very kind police officer. Children enjoyed a very important water safety assembly delivered by a lifeguard from our local swimming pool. The assembly taught children how to stay safe in and around water, particularly during the warmer months when more people visit rivers, lakes, canals, and other open water areas. The lifeguard explained the dangers of swimming in open water and shared practical advice on what to do in an emergency. Children learned about the importance of only swimming in supervised

Children participated in a fun Digital Art workshop using IPads today which was kindly led by Mr Ashton from Engagedu. We have some fantastic artists in Year 5! Today, two school nurses set up an informative and interactive sun safety stand in the school playground to provide help, advice, and support to children and parents about staying safe in the sun. The colourful display attracted lots of interest and helped raise awareness about the importance of protecting skin during the warmer months. A lovely afternoon at the Tipton Green Disco! The children got dressed up, danced with their friends, and enjoyed glow sticks, tasty treats, and good music throughout the event. In year 3, we had a fantastic time learning all about the ancient Egyptians on our Egyptian day! We learned all about Howard Carter and his discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb, had a go at being excavators ourselves and roleplaying what the discovery would have felt like. Then, we had a go at being real Egyptian scribes, carving our names into clay with hieroglyphs! Then, we learned all about the process of mummification and how that links to Ancient Egyptian religious beliefs.

Year 4 children took part in an exciting SPARKS visit delivered by firefighters from the local fire station. The presentation focused on important fire and road safety messages in a fun and engaging way. During the session, the children watched a short film showing how quickly fire can spread and learned valuable information about smoke detectors, escape plans, emergency calls, fire hazards, and what to do if clothing catches fire using the “stop, drop and roll” technique. 3D art club watched a 30 second tutorial tonight and used felt and squared paper to create an optical illusion hole. They are building on their skills week after week and looking forward to challenging themselves in next week’s session!

During our first Gardening Club session, we focused on clearing and preparing the space ready for planting. The children worked together enthusiastically to help transform the area into a welcoming garden space. Some children weeded around the apple tree, carefully removing unwanted plants to give new growth the best chance to thrive, while others prepared the raised planters so we can begin growing a variety of flowers, herbs, and vegetables in the coming weeks.
