Forest School - Hot Chocolate, Hailstorms and Mini Beast Adventures
Children got stuck into their activities straight away and showed great enthusiasm for exploring the Forest School area. Following their interest in finding bugs during our first session, I provided minibeast hunts, spider identification charts and magnifying glasses to help them investigate the natural environment further.
Partway through the session, we survived a small hailstorm! The unexpected weather challenge meant the children had to think quickly and work together to build dens for shelter. They demonstrated excellent teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills as they responded to the changing conditions.
While the children were busy exploring and building, Mrs Favata was preparing a special treat using the Kelly Kettle. The children enjoyed watching the process and were delighted to warm up afterwards with a cup of hot chocolate and a biscuit around the fire area.
The session provided opportunities for exploration, resilience, teamwork and enjoying the outdoors, whatever the weather. Everyone left with rosy cheeks, warm drinks and plenty of stories to tell. 🍫🌦️🕷️🌿
