As gardening club was cancelled tonight due to the disco, some children volunteered to help in the garden during their lunchtime. Some of the seeds had started to grow into plants, so it was important to move them into our new vegetable patch.
First, we made sure the ground was clear of weeds. We carefully removed the plants from their small pots to stop them becoming root bound. The children dug holes, gently loosened some of the roots, planted them into the soil, covered the holes back up and watered them well.
We planted sprouts, squash, runner beans, peas and carrots. Over half term, we are hoping the plants will continue to grow well in their new vegetable bed.
