Growing Confidence in Our Young Violinists

Some of our Upper Key Stage 2 children have been developing their violin skills and showing fantastic progress. They are becoming much more confident in holding the instrument correctly, remembering their rest position and playing (mount) position independently.

They have been practising how to hold the bow with the correct grip and are learning to control their bowing technique to produce a clear, steady sound. The children are beginning to read simple musical notation and recognise notes on the stave, carefully placing their fingers in the correct positions to change pitch.

They recently performed a short piece together, focusing on playing in time, listening carefully to one another and keeping a steady rhythm. It was lovely to see them concentrating, supporting each other and working as an ensemble. Their confidence is growing each week, and they should be very proud of the progress they are making.
