Rock Steady Concert!

The Rock Steady concert at Tipton Green was a lively and enjoyable event, celebrating the musical achievements of the pupils. With families and staff in attendance, the concert created a supportive atmosphere where students could showcase their growing confidence and skills.

First on stage, the Fire Rockers delivered a strong performance of Dance Monkey. Tyler kept a steady beat on the drums, using “feet and hands” techniques and building the intensity of the song. On guitar, Lettie and the second guitarist combined double stops and single-note playing to add texture and melody. Pippa-Leigh and Anna supported the performance on keys, focusing on mini chords and timing, helping to keep the band together.

The second band, The Minecrafters, performed All Star with energy and enthusiasm.  Isabella played a solo performance on the guitar contributed a powerful sound through the use of power chords and a mix of rhythms, giving the performance a strong rock feel and the Rock Steady teacher accompanied on the drums.

Blue Rock performed Shotgun and showed great determination, especially as Ollie is new to the bass guitar. Playing single notes, Ollie demonstrated good focus and effort, contributing well to the overall performance. It was great to see a new musician taking part and building confidence on stage. He got the whole audience singing!

The final group, Space Rockers, performed Seven Nation Army and gave an exciting, confident performance to close the concert. Dylan on drums worked on “feet, hands and spiders,” showing good coordination and control, while Harry on drums added variety with bass drum patterns and “caterpillars,” helping to drive the rhythm forward. Henry on bass focused well on playing notes across different strings, creating a strong foundation for the band. Yasuharu on guitar used power chords effectively, giving the song its recognisable rock sound. On keys, Damian and Harry supported with mini chords and melody, adding depth and keeping the performance flowing smoothly. Together, the band showed excellent teamwork and enthusiasm, bringing plenty of energy to their version of the song.

Overall, the concert highlighted the importance of teamwork, listening, and practice. Each band brought their own style and strengths, and it was clear how much progress had been made. Events like this are a fantastic opportunity for pupils to develop their musical abilities and perform in front of an audience.

The Rock Steady concert was a great success, leaving everyone feeling proud and inspired by the students’ achievements.
