This week, Tipton Green joined in celebrating National Storytelling Week, a special time dedicated to the magic of storytelling. Throughout the week, our students explored new worlds, sparked their imaginations, and connected with each other through reading.
Year 6 have thoroughly enjoyed National Storytelling Week 2026. We have taken time to reflect on our favourite books and even enjoyed a special visit from Mr Grayson who captivated us with the tale of Tim O’Leary. Here are some of our reading highlights.

"I have chosen to read The House with Chicken Legs. We read the prologue as part of our Fred’s reading lesson and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was so engaged that I really wanted to read the rest of the story, so I borrowed it from the school library. I was not disappointed. My favourite part was when Marinka regretted the breaking the rules. It was a real page turner."

"I love reading, this year I have really started to enjoy reading so much more. I love reading different genres and exploring the perspectives of different characters. When I have read the books I spend time chatting with my teacher about the parts that I have enjoyed most- we enjoy similar sorts of stories. At the moment, I am reading Anne Frank’s Diary. I was inspired to read this because I thoroughly enjoyed learning about World War 2 in history lessons and I wanted to find out more about The Holocaust. "

"In English this term we have started to read The Nowhere Emporium by Ross Mckenzie. I enjoyed it so much in class, I went home and found the audio book to listen to when I fell asleep. It is such a fun and exciting book- I really enjoy fantasy stories. My favourite part is when Daniel writes in The Book of Wonders without Mr Silver and things begin to go wrong."
