In cooking club, we made healthy vegetable skewers by cutting up fresh vegetables such as peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes and onions. We then added pieces of chicken or halloumi to create a colourful and balanced snack. For a sweet treat, we made fruit skewers, carefully cutting a range of fruit into chunky pieces before threading them onto sticks. Both dishes were quick, healthy and fun for the children to make.

The Year 5 and 6 football tournament at the Albion Dome delivered an exciting day of competition, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Our recent school trip to Safeside Birmingham, run by the West Midlands Fire Service, was an unforgettable and eye-opening experience for our children. Well done to our incredible Wellbeing Ambassadors for leading our assembly in celebration of Kindness Day.. They reminded us all of the importance of small acts of kindness and how they can make a big difference in our school community. The assembly encouraged everyone to reflect on how kindness can be shown in everyday life—through words, actions, and even simple gestures like a smile.

On the 11 th  November Year 6 were joined by their parents, carers and family members as they went to the Cenotaph in Victoria Park to pay their respects to those who have fought and are still fighting in wars. The children led a short service and the laid a wreath. The children were very respectful as they observed a two minute silence. It was a moving and meaningful experience for everyone involved, reminding us of the importance of remembrance and gratitude.

During Cooking Club, we rolled up our sleeves and made a batch of delicious chocolate brownies! Using our recipe, we learned how to measure ingredients carefully, use kitchen tools safely, and follow step-by-step instructions to bake the perfect treat.

With rainy, miserable conditions, the game starter hard, with Tipton Green going 1-0 down straight away. Despite this, the Tipton Green girls kept their heads up and looked ready for the challenge, battling from the restart, winning their tackles and getting higher up the pitch. Today, the children at Tipton Green Junior School came together to mark Remembrance Day with respect and thoughtfulness. In preparation for the occasion, pupils created their own poppies and planted them outside to form a striking giant display. Today, our school joined thousands of others across the country to celebrate Odd Socks Day 2025 – a fun and colourful way to kick off Anti-Bullying Week. Pupils and staff came to school wearing their brightest, boldest, and most mismatched socks to celebrate what makes each of us unique. This week, the children have been creating poppies to plant in the playground in preparation for our Remembrance Day service on Tuesday. Our School Council has also been actively supporting the Poppy Appeal through their poppy sales. Thank you to all families for the wonderful artwork produced at home. We look forward to showcasing these as part of our outdoor display.

Science Club had an exciting session today! Using vegetable oil and bicarbonate of soda, the children experimented to make their own lava lamps. By mixing food colouring with white vinegar, they created a fun chemical reaction with the bicarbonate of soda — resulting in a bubbling, lava lamp effect! The children were amazed to see science in action and loved watching their colourful creations come to life.

The children are really enjoying their time at Animation Club! This week, they’ve been busy creating colourful backdrops for their short films. Using their imagination and creativity, they designed scenes to bring their stories to life. We can’t wait to see their finished animations!

Monday 3rd November 2025 Over the half-term break, some of our children have been busy creating beautiful poppies for our outdoor Remembrance display. We have already received some stunning pieces, including a suncatcher, a wooden cross and a wreath made from origami poppies. We can’t wait to see what other creations arrive! Last week, school council did a survey to find out how children feel about using technology in school. Today, they bravely gave an assembly to share with school what they had learned. As a result of our survey, the student council decided we need to have charging monitors in school to make sure the chrome books are charged, and we also discussed adding more opportunities into school for creating digital art.
