Spring 2026 - Issue 10

Dear Parents, Carers and Families,

It’s been a busy two weeks in school, with plenty of creativity and learning taking place across all year groups. Our Dress to Express day was a wonderful celebration of individuality—thank you for helping the children come in feeling confident, colourful, and proud of who they are.

This week, pupils have also taken part in activities for Safer Internet Day, exploring how to stay safe, kind, and responsible online. They showed great awareness and enthusiasm as they learned about making smart choices in the digital world.

With half term holidays beginning today, we hope all our pupils are looking forward to a well‑deserved break. Please note that Monday 23rd February is an INSET day, and school will be closed to pupils.

Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable half term when it arrives.

Attendance Matters

At our school, we know that every day of learning truly counts. Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in helping children achieve their full potential - both academically and socially. When pupils are in school consistently, they build strong learning habits, develop positive routines, and engage fully with lessons, friendships, and the wider school community.

Thank you for your continued support in helping all our children enjoy a successful and positive school experience. This week our all year groups improved or maintained their attendance - well done everyone!

We would like to invite you to a reading workshop to inform you about what reading looks like at Tipton Green. After the reading workshop, which should last 20 minutes, you are able to visit the book fair with your child. Reading Competition - Once Upon a Spoon!

Our reading ambassadors have been working hard to think of ideas to celebrate World Book Day, one of their ideas is to run a competition to design a wooden spoon as a character from a book. Entries need to be handed into school by Thursday 5th March. Please see the pictures below for inspiration.

Sports Festival

This week, a group of children were given the opportunity to attend a sports festival to promote the importance of an active lifestyle. They thoroughly enjoyed the fun activities they participated in during the morning including designing and navigating an obstacle course, and a friendly competition against other schools at boccia and curling - we even won a few games but also showed great teamship when other teams did too! They also took part in table cricket and finished with some fun enjoying bhangra dancing and drums. What a fabulous, inclusive event to be involved in!

Year 6 VR Day!

Year 6 pupils stepped into the world of virtual reality in this exciting computing workshop focused on expressive writing. Using VR headsets, the children experienced thrilling rollercoaster simulations, immersing themselves in the sights, sounds and sensations of the ride. Inspired by the twists, turns and drops, they then channelled their experiences into vivid pieces of descriptive storytelling. The workshop combined technology and creativity, helping pupils develop their computing skills while bringing their imaginative writing to life!

Well Being Ambassadors and School Council Lead the Way!

On Monday, Well being Ambassadors began the week explaining the importance of Children's Mental Health Week. The assembly explored this year’s theme, ‘This Is My Place’, encouraging pupils to think about where they feel they belong and why feeling included and supported is important for our wellbeing.

On Tuesday, School Councillors led an assembly teaching their peers about the importance of staying safe on the internet. Both teams demonstrated maturity and leadership skills in the way they engaged the rest of the school in these extremely important topics.
