We are passionate historians at Tipton Green Junior School and love taking a blast into the past!  We have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunities that we have had so far this year to enrich our learning and deepen our historical understanding .  Each year group has taken part in a wide range of exciting historical workshops, theme days and visits where we have explored different time periods.  Investigating historical artefacts and primary sources of evidence really brings our learning to life and allows us to ask questions and draw conclusions.

Pupil Voice

I really enjoy finding out about the past by watching videos, reading books and looking at photos. I loved learning about the Egyptians in Year 4 - I still have the mask I made!

Year 3

On the 15th January, Year 3 went back in time on their Victorian Day! It was wonderful seeing so many children dressed up as Victorian maids, chimney sweeps, Lords and Ladies. We kicked off the day with a real Victorian lesson, where Miss Hayden taught reading, writing and arithmetic whilst being really strict! We then had a go at playing some Victorian playground games, making a spinning thaumatrope and drawing our own hopscotch boards with chalk on the playground. We also read some of Oliver Twist, learned all about the Victorian class system and the amazing Victorian inventions that influenced things we use every day today.

Year 6  learnt all about the history of chocolate at Cadbury's World on 7th March 2025. They took a blast into the past and found out how chocolate was farmed and used by the ancient Maya.

Remembrance at Tipton Green

Tipton Green commemorated Remembrance Day with a heartfelt tribute. Every student made a poppy and planted it in the school playground, creating a striking display of remembrance. The Arts and Crafts Club contributed by painting silhouette soldiers that were added outside. On the day, a special service was held in the playground, where speeches were given, and In Flanders Fields was read aloud. A musician played The Last Post on the bugle, marking a moment of reflection. Members of the community praised the display, appreciating the school's effort in honouring those who served.
