A Fantastic Start to Forest School!
Today was our first Forest School session of the year, and it was a huge success, enjoyed by everyone involved!
We began by discussing our Forest School boundaries and agreeing on a group call to bring everyone back to the fire circle. After much consideration, the children decided to keep it simple with: "1, 2, 3... Fire Circle!"
The children then had the opportunity to explore the Forest School site while Mrs Favata tested our new group call. It was wonderful to see everyone appear from behind trees and different corners of the woodland, quickly making their way back to the fire circle when called.
Gathered together, Mrs Favata introduced some autumn-themed activities that the children could choose from. The session encouraged independence and exploration, with some children completing a scavenger hunt, others searching for spiders and insects, and some working collaboratively to build dens.
Mrs Favata was also grateful for the fantastic helpers who assisted in collecting twigs for next week's fire in the Kelly Kettle, which will be used to boil water for our much-anticipated hot chocolate!
The children had lots of positive things to say about their first session:
Rory: "I love Forest School because you get to explore nature.
Tyler: "It's great because you can learn about nature and explore."
Logan: "It was great because we got to do some building."
Joey: "It was really fun."
Keelen: "I enjoyed setting up the den."
We are already looking forward to our next Forest School adventure and all the exciting opportunities it will bring!
