A Mystery at the Manor House! 🕵️‍♀️🔎

Year 4 have been busy becoming detectives as they investigated the mysterious history of the site where our school now stands. The children examined a collection of evidence, including an old map of Tipton, photographs of the luxurious manor house, a floor plan, photographs of the family who once lived there and a diary entry from 1914.

As they pieced together the clues, they discovered that the school site was once home to a family of seven. But the photographs revealed something more mysterious… over time, the grand house fell into disrepair and was eventually left abandoned.

The children then discovered photographs showing that someone had entered and explored the old house. However, unusual things began to happen during their exploration… 👀

The classroom was filled with excitement as the children shared theories, questioned the evidence and tried to work out what could have happened inside the mysterious manor. Their curiosity and enthusiasm were fantastic, with children eagerly looking for clues and developing their own ideas about the strange events.

Over the next two weeks, the children will use their discoveries to write detailed setting descriptions of the manor house before developing these into suspense stories. They will be challenged to create atmosphere, build tension and leave their readers wondering exactly what happened inside the mysterious old house… 👻🏚️
