Boys Football – Year 5 & 6

Tipton started the game very much on top. Picking the ball up in midfield and passing the ball well to create several chances early on. Tipton dominated the first half and should have been a few goals up but could not take their chances. A mistake in defence led to Old Park stealing the ball and scoring with their first shot of the game. This encouraged Old Park but Tipton were still on top and should have equalised a handful of times but again, they were unable to put their chances away.

Second half was a more even contest with both teams going forward and playing some nice football. Tipton were attacking well and defending brilliantly but a shot from Old Park managed to squeeze underneath the Tipton goalkeeper and into the back of the net. Tipton somehow found themselves 2 – 0 down. The boys did not stop battling throughout and you could see that the heat was starting to have an effect. Old Park came forward looking to finish the game and would have, if not for a top corner save from the Tipton keeper. Tipton kept pushing and after some great link up play in the final third, they were able to pull one back from a smart finish. Tipton were defending with everything they had, countering on the break and had a couple of chances to equalise but it just wasn’t happening for them. A great performance from Tipton unfortunately did not match the result. However, the Old Park coach did comment on the excellent football that Tipton played and admitted that they probably should have come away with the win.
