Exciting News! A Letter From a VIP!

March 2025

An exciting day in Year 6!

Today our year 6 children received a letter from none other than the legendary broadcaster and natural historian, Sir David Attenborough. This exciting correspondence arrived as a response to their passionate project on plastic pollution, which has become one of the most pressing environmental issues of our time.

Earlier this year, the Year 6 students embarked on an exciting journey to learn about the impact of plastic on our planet. With lots of inspiration from David Attenborough’s “Blue Planet” they explored the origins of plastic, its widespread use in everyday life and the devastating effects it has on wildlife and ecosystems. They engaged in hands-on learning, such as writing speeches and exploring recycling initiatives, to better understand their role in combating this global crisis.

Fuelled by their newfound knowledge and commitment to change, the children decided to write a heartfelt letter to David Attenborough, expressing their concerns about plastic pollution and sharing their efforts to make a difference. They poured their hearts into their words, hoping to inspire others and gain encouragement from a figure they admire deeply.

To their utter astonishment, the children received a lovely letter of thanks from Sir David Attenborough himself! The children were thrilled!

Looking Ahead

In a world increasingly overwhelmed by plastic waste, it’s inspiring to see our pupils taking action and leading by example. The future is indeed bright, filled with hope and determination, thanks to the efforts of these passionate Year 6 students.

Let us all take a page from their book—let’s embrace sustainability, reduce our plastic footprint and work together for a cleaner, greener planet. After all, the Earth is our home, and it’s up to us to protect it for generations to come.
