Year 6 Get to the Heart of Science!
This week, Year 6 swapped their classrooms for a 'science lab'. They took on the role of scientists as they embarked on an exciting journey to learn more about the human body and the circulatory system.
Equipped with gloves, curiosity and plenty of scientific enthusiasm, the children carefully examined the hearts, identifying key features and comparing them to diagrams they had studied in class. They were fascinated by the size and texture of the heart and were thrilled to be able to identify the four chambers.
As real-life scientists, the pupils investigated the different chambers of the heart, located major blood vessels, and explored how blood moves through the circulatory system. Seeing these structures first-hand helped the children understand how the heart works as a powerful pump, tirelessly delivering blood around the body every second of every day.
Throughout the session, the children demonstrated excellent scientific skills. They asked thoughtful questions, made careful observations, and used accurate scientific vocabulary to explain their findings.
The experience provided a memorable opportunity to bring classroom learning to life. We are incredibly proud of the maturity, curiosity and enthusiasm Year 6 showed during this investigation. Who knows? We may have a few future doctors, surgeons, or scientists among us!
