After school, Mrs Handford met with two members of the Tipton History Society to share photographs of Tipton Green Junior School from across the years. The group will be selecting some of these images to display at Tipton Library as part of a special exhibition celebrating 50 years at the school’s current location.
Originally established in 1880, the school moved to its present site on Park Lane West in 1976, alongside Park Lane Infant School. It later underwent significant interior modernisation in 1994. This meeting marked the beginning of an exciting collaborative project with the Tipton History Society and Tipton Library.
As part of this project, we will also be taking part in a poetry competition, with further details to be shared after half term. In addition, a local historian will be visiting the school to share photographs and talk to the children about the history of their school, exploring how it has changed over time.
We are really looking forward to working closely with the history group and the library, as well as engaging with members of the local community, to celebrate this important milestone.
