Summer 2026 - Issue 17

Dear Parents, Carers and Families,

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our parents and carers for your support during the very warm weather this week. Your understanding and support have been greatly appreciated as we have adapted our daily routines to ensure the children remain safe and comfortable.

We have been incredibly proud of how our pupils have responded. They have shown fantastic resilience, patience and maturity as changes were made across the day. From enjoying Tiptops and foot baths to getting creative with painting in the shade, there have been lots of lovely moments of pupils working and playing together while keeping cool.

A big thank you also for ensuring children came to school prepared for the heat, which has made a real difference. As the warm weather is set to continue over the weekend, we would also like to remind families to share important water safety messages with your children which can be for further down this newsletter.

Please note that from Monday, the school day will return to normal routines.

Looking ahead, staff are very much looking forward to our transition morning next week. It will be a wonderful opportunity to begin getting to know the pupils who will be joining their new classes in September, helping to ensure a smooth and positive start to the new academic year.

Have a lovely and safe weekend,

Mrs Richards

Attendance Matters

At our school, we know that every day of learning truly counts. Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in helping children achieve their full potential - both academically and socially. When pupils are in school consistently, they build strong learning habits, develop positive routines, and engage fully with lessons, friendships, and the wider school community.

Please can we remind families that upon collection or return to school of a child, confirmation of a medical appointment must be provided for the absence to be authorised.

Thank you for your continued support in helping all our children enjoy a successful and positive school experience.

Water Safety Awareness Message from West Midlands Fire Service

During the hot spell over the late May Bank Holiday weekend and half-term holiday, there were a number of tragic incidents around the country, many involving young people. The forecast over the coming weeks is for temperatures to rise again.

To keep yourself and your loved ones safe around water please be aware of the following:

· Of all drownings in 2025, 57% took place in inland water – canals, rivers, lakes, ponds – the type of bodies of water we have lots of in the West Midlands.

· Even if the weather is warm the water may be cold, causing your body to go inro cold water shock.

· If you fall into water Float to Live – put your head back, float on your back and keep yourself stable by using small movements of your hands.

· Once you are stable you may call for help or swim to the bank if it is feasible.

· Do not go into the water to save people or pets. Call 999 and ask for the Fire Service.

For more information about staying safe around water please visit the West Midlands Fire Service water safety page (https://www.wmfs.net/safety/water-safety/) or the RNLI Education Resources page (https://rnli.org/youth-education/education-resources).

Year 6 Residential - Laches Wood

This week, some of our Year 6 pupils went on a 3 day residential trip to Laches Wood, taking part in a range of activities including archery, climbing, camp fires, canoeing and so much more.

The children demonstrated determination, resilience and teamwork throughout the trip and should be incredibly proud of themselves.

Despite the warm weather, the children coped really well and embraced every opportunity, making the most of each activity. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow over the course of the residential, and most importantly, they had a fantastic time.

A big thank you to all the pupils for their enthusiasm, positive attitudes, and excellent behaviour. And a special thank you to the staff who attended and made it possible to give the children such a memorable opportunity. Visit the blog to see even more: Residentials | Tipton Green

Parent Survey

Every year we ask that you take time to complete a parent survey in order to provide us with vital information which can then be used to inform our school improvement plan.  This year, as last year, the questionnaire is an on-line survey, which enables families to access it quickly from personal devices such as mobile phones, laptops, IPads etc.

For these to be used most effectively, it is important that you answer the questions based on where you think the school is now, rather than the past. Positives are extremely important to us as this helps us know where you think we are doing well and any areas you feel could be improved so that we know any new actions we may need to take.  If you would like to explain any of your responses further, please use the box at the bottom of the questionnaire.

These surveys are anonymous and confidential, unless you would like a personal response from us. The survey will be activated from today and will be closed on Friday 3rd July 2026.

As always, we appreciate your support with these and the more responses we receive the more effective the data produced will be in enabling us to make further improvements.

The link below will be sent to families via a text to your mobile phones.  Please just click on the link to access the survey.  Alternatively, copy the link into your internet browser or use the QR code below.
