Life-Saving Water Safety Skills

Updated: 2 days ago

Children enjoyed a very important water safety assembly delivered by a lifeguard from our local swimming pool. The assembly taught children how to stay safe in and around water, particularly during the warmer months when more people visit rivers, lakes, canals, and other open water areas.

The lifeguard explained the dangers of swimming in open water and shared practical advice on what to do in an emergency. Children learned about the importance of only swimming in supervised locations, following safety signs, and never entering the water alone. The children were also introduced to the Water Safety Code and discussed ways to help themselves and others stay safe near water.

The lifeguard also reminded pupils and families that Tipton Leisure Centre offers swimming lessons for children, helping them to develop confidence and essential water safety skills. In addition, family swimming sessions are available throughout the six-week summer holiday, providing a safe and supervised environment where qualified lifeguards are always present.

The assembly was both informative and engaging, with pupils asking thoughtful questions and learning valuable life-saving information. We would like to thank our local lifeguard for taking the time to visit Tipton Green and help raise awareness of this important safety message.
