More VE Day Celebrations!

May 8th 2025

Year 6 have enjoyed an afternoon full of VE Day celebrations. We showed respect by holding a two minute silence by our memorial and then spent the afternoon getting creative. We produced pieces of art based on VE Day street party celebrations focusing on the skill of creating perspective. During this time we enjoyed listening to some WW2 songs by Vera Lynn and watching interviews with people who celebrated the end of the war.

Jennah -"I enjoyed participating in the two-minute silence by our wonderful outdoor display. I think that it is important to show respect for the sacrifices that were made during war. These sacrifices mean that we can have the peace that we have today and that makes me feel very grateful."

Sophia " I think that remembering VE Day is a wonderful thing to do because we remember the people who sacrificed themselves for us to have the lives that we do today."

Ibrahim " My favourite part of the day was learning about the history of VE Day and how it was first celebrated, it must have been such a relief for people to hear that the war was over."

Humayra "I loved listening to the songs that would have been played, it was lovely to hear the messages that they shared to uplift and boost people's morale."
