Children Lead the Way: Promoting Recycling in Our School Assembly

April 2025

This week, our school had the fantastic opportunity to take part in an assembly led by none other than our Year 6 children! Inspired by 'Blue Planet' and a heartfelt letter from the famous naturalist David Attenborough, the children took it upon themselves to become global citizens and educate and motivate their classmates about the importance of recycling, sustainability and taking care of our planet.

In his documentaries, David Attenborough spoke about the urgent need to protect our environment. He highlighted the impact of plastic waste and encouraged young people to be champions of change. Excited and determined, our Year 6's organised an assembly that was not only informative but also engaging for everyone.

The assembly began with a captivating presentation showcasing eye-opening facts about recycling. The students shared statistics about how much waste is generated and what happens to that waste if it's not recycled properly. With inspiring speeches, the presenters captured the attention of their peers, making the message clear: every little bit helps!

To inspire action, the Year 6 leaders encouraged children to join our new "Recycling Challenge" for the school.

The assembly concluded with a powerful reminder from our Year 6 leaders: "If we all do our part, we can make a big difference!" They urged everyone to think twice before throwing something away and to always choose recycling when possible. Remember, every action counts! Let’s make our school a greener place, one recycled item at a time!
