Spring 2026 - Issue 11

Dear Parents, Carers and Families,

We would like to extend a big thank you to all the parents and carers who joined us for our recent Reading Workshops. It was wonderful to see so many of you taking the time to learn more about how reading is taught and celebrated at Tipton Green. We hope you found the sessions informative and that they provided a clearer picture of how we nurture a love of reading across the school, from developing early decoding skills to encouraging deeper comprehension and enjoyment of a wide range of texts.

For anyone who was unable to attend, or for those who would like to revisit the information shared, the workshop slides are available using the link below: Reading Week

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support by visiting the Book Fair this week. Through your purchases, we have been able to secure new books for the school to continue our drive to ensure pupils love reading for pleasure and have the right skills as they move on to Secondary School.

Over the past two weeks, both our girls’ and boys’ football teams have taken to the pitch for matches against local schools. Our pupils demonstrated fantastic teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship throughout their games. Whether defending, tackling, scoring, or cheering on teammates from the sidelines, every player represented Tipton Green brilliantly. We are very proud of their achievements and look forward to seeing how they continue to develop their skills over the season.

A reminder that you can now book your Parents’ Evening appointments through the Arbor app. This is a valuable opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, celebrate successes, and explore next steps in their learning journey. We encourage all families to secure a time slot that works best for them, and we look forward to welcoming you into school for these important conversations.

Carry on reading this issue of the newsletter to find out all about the amazing learning and events that have been taking place so far this half term as well as how they link to our school values:

Attendance Matters

At our school, we know that every day of learning truly counts. Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in helping children achieve their full potential - both academically and socially. When pupils are in school consistently, they build strong learning habits, develop positive routines, and engage fully with lessons, friendships, and the wider school community.

Thank you for your continued support in helping all our children enjoy a successful and positive school experience. This week our all year groups improved or maintained their attendance - well done everyone!

Their behaviour was particularly commented on by the staff who led the activities, who were impressed with their enthusiasm during the day. The rest of Year 5 are now looking forward to their trip next week!

Footballing Success!

Our girls had a smashing game against Holy Trinity, securing a huge win - 6-1!

They had a dream and believed in themselves! Just look at what they achieved. Well done girls.

Reading Competition - Once Upon a Spoon

Thank you to everyone who entered the spoon competition for World Book Day. All the entries were brilliant - thank you so much for taking the time to make these wonderful creations.

Author Assembly - Michael Rosen

Michael Rosen himself supported the learning of all our pupils this week through a live lesson we took part it. Through the use of words and illustrations, pupils began to tell their own stories, with the help of famous authors and illustrators.

Teamwork in our Secret Garden!

Children have been having a wonderful time improving our Secret Garden. They have worked incredibly hard to help tidy and care for the space, showing great enthusiasm and responsibility.

It has been fantastic to see their teamwork in action. The children supported one another, shared tools sensibly and worked together to complete different tasks.

We are so proud of their positive attitudes, cooperation and the effort they put into improving our special outdoor space which will be opening next week for pupils to be able to enjoy.

Reading Ambassadors entertain our future students!

As part of our World Book Day celebrations, our Reading Ambassadors visited Silvertrees Infants to re-enact a story to our younger generations. They had a wonderful time, being welcomed warmly by everyone, demonstrating both their leadership skills as well as helping others understanding what they can achieve as a team. The pupils at Silvertrees were absolutely fantastic and we hope they enjoyed the performance!

Manny Singh visits Tipton Green

During assembly this week, pupils were inspired by the wonderful work of Manny Singh Kang, who spoke about the charity work he has been doing in the local community. So many pupils were inspired during the visit by his hard work and determination to make a difference, developing our school values of respect and curiosity. Read more about his visit here.
