Summer 2025 - Issue 14
Dear Families,
It is hard to believe that we are at the end of another half term already. It has certainly been a busy one with lots of fantastic learning taking place. Please visit the school website to learn more about what your children are learning and pictures of them hard at work. Clicking on the following link will take you to the right are of the website! https://www.tgjs.org.uk/yeargroups
Well done to all of our Year 6 pupils who have taken their SATs last week. They have all shown resilience, determination and such a mature attitude to some tricky papers. Throughout the year, all our pupils have worked so hard in preparation for these tests and they thoroughly deserve our praise. Whatever the outcome, we couldn't be prouder! They all had a lovely celebration day last week to mark their achievements - ice creams, parachute games and some forest school were highlights!
Thank you to all their families as well, for supporting both your children and the school by ensuring they were in school on time everyday. It would also be wrong of me to not thank all the pupils in the school during SATs week who were so understanding and showed great kindness towards the Year 6 pupils.
When we return after the holiday, Year 4 will begin to take their Multiplication Timetables Check. Keep up the practice over the half term Year 4 - every little bit helps! Again, visiting the website will give you lots of great advice and resources to practice with.
Today, we said a sad farewell to Miss Gooden. Although her time with us was short, I would like to thank her for all her valuable contributions to the school and the pupils during her time with us. We wish her all the best in her future career.
Finally a thank you to all our families who continue to support the school. Please remember that we have a staff training day on Monday 2nd June, therefore pupils return to school on Tuesday 3rd June. Have a lovely half term holiday and we look forward to seeing you all at the beginning of our final half term of the school year.

Website
Effective communication between school and families is so important to us. We are always trying to improve this, and the school website is a vital platform to provide information to our families. Over the past year, we have been working hard to ensure that there is as much information on the website as possible, from school policies to curriculum plans so that you know what is being taught to your children. Please take some time to explore the website as it is a treasure trove of information. Below are some links to key areas that might be of particular interest.
School Policies

School Curriculum
Year Group Information
Attendance
We track attendance weekly in school and monitor pupils attendance which is falling below 96%. Please consider Leave of Absence requests carefully and arrange a meeting with school before booking any time out of school during the term time. As we near the end of the school year, these last weeks are vital for learning before the children move up to the next year group as well as lots of exciting events such as trips and sports days. We want to ensure that we provide the best possible education we can and this starts with excellent attendance.
This week, our whole school attendance is 94.5%. Well done to Year 5 and Year 6 who have both improved their attendance this last two weeks. Let's keep this up until the end of the school year now.
Year Group | % Attendance up to 09.05.25 |
Year 3 | 95.08% |
Year 4 | 93.7% |
Year 5 | 94.85% |
Year 6 | 94.69% |
School Uniform
As we near the end of the school year, can I please remind families that expectations for school uniform remain high. I appreciate that pupils are beginning to outgrown their uniform however it is important that they still wear the correct uniform at all times. Should there be a particular reason why this is not possible, please contact school or speak to class teachers so that we are able to support this. You will find a copy of our Uniform Policy by clicking on the following link: https://www.tgjs.org.uk/schoolpolicies

Pupil Safety on the Car Park
Please can I ask parents to ensure that all children are supervised on both our own car park and on Silvertrees car park at the beginning and end of the day. It has been brought to our attention that pupils are running between cars which could put them in danger. Could we also ask that pupils and adults do not ride scooters on school property as younger children may get hurt, particular at busy times of the day.

Football Celebrations
This week, both our girls and boys football teams have played in matches. Our girls played a close match against Springfield School, drawing 3-3 at full time. Staff and parents have commented on how well the girls conducted themselves as well as their skills on the field.
Our boys team played on home turf against St John Bosco with a fantastic victory, 5-1! Their teamship and sportsmanship towards the opposition was commendable.
Well done Team Tipton!
Extra Curricular Clubs
Our extra curricular clubs are well underway throughout the week, ranging from Drama to multi skills to reading! It is so lovely walking around school to see all the children engaging with peers from across school, demonstrating our second school rule, RESPECT.
