Issue 12 - Newsletter - Friday 4th April

Spring 2025 - Issue 12

Dear Families,

We have nearly reached the end of the Spring Term; it was been a long term and I am sure the children are all ready for a well deserved break. We have covered so much this term and I know that your children have worked hard and some fabulous learning has been achieved. When we return after the Easter holidays we will be welcoming back Mrs Walters from her maternity leave. She will be supporting in Year 6 as they prepare in the final weeks before the SATs tests.

Thank you to all our mums, aunts, grandmas, nannies and special ladies who attended the Year 3 Mother's Day celebrations and workshops last week. We hope you enjoyed spending some time with your children while they made you beautiful flower pots. Hopefully with this warmer weather, your sunflowers have begun to grow a little!

Next week we will be welcoming Year 5 parents into school to join in with some Easter crafts on Tuesday; please check the important dates section of the newsletter for the workshop times for each class. The whole school is also invited to join in with the Easter competition to decorate an egg. Entries for this competition are due on the 7th and 8th of April. For further information, please click this link https://www.tgjs.org.uk/letters-home.

Pupils in Year 4 have an exciting week ahead packing and preparing for their residential trip to Frank Chapman at the end of term; staff are so excited to be joining them there too - including myself!

We hope you enjoy the sun this weekend, see you on Monday for the final week in our Spring Term.

Attendance

We track attendance weekly in school and monitor pupils attendance which is falling below 96%. We appreciate that the colder weather brings lots of cold and flu, however please consider Leave of Absence requests carefully and arrange a meeting with school before booking any time out of school during the term time. We want to ensure that we provide the best possible education we can and this starts with excellent attendance.

This week, our whole school attendance improved in every year group increasing it to 94.5%. Well done everyone - every single year group have improved their attendance again!

Summer Clubs

Thank you for all the support we have had with Year 6 Booster lessons this term. These additional learning opportunities have really supported their learning and progress. Next week will be the final week for Year 6 Boosters to enable extra-curricular clubs to begin again next term.

Staff are looking forward to leading a wide range of different clubs; please look out for the summer clubs letter coming out soon.

Safeguarding at Tipton Green

At Tipton Green Junior School, safeguarding is our highest priority. Our Safeguarding team is always ready to assist you with any concerns regarding your own children or those of other families.

Mrs Wise, a Designated Safeguarding Lead, is available to help with all safeguarding matters concerning our children and their families. Our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads are also available in school to support if Mrs Wise is unavailable.

If you have any concerns about any of our children and their families, please feel free to visit and speak with a member of our safeguarding team.

Sun Safety

As the weather improves, please can you ensure that you send pupils into school with sun hats and suntan lotion. Unfortunately, due to the risk of allergic reactions, we are unable to provide pupils with suntan lotion and ask that you send this into school, labelled with your child's name. They will have to apply this themselves so please practice this over the holidays.

It is also important that pupils keep hydrated with water in the warmer weather. Water bottles should be plastic please, not metal and ideally not cups so that lids are secure.

Thank you for your understanding with this - long may the weather last.
