What a fantastic day our children had on their visit to London and the Houses of Parliament!
After arriving in Westminster, we enjoyed breakfast before beginning our much-anticipated tour of the Houses of Parliament. The children were fascinated by the history and grandeur of the iconic building and had the unique opportunity to sit in both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, where they listened to MPs debating important topics. This gave everyone a real insight into how decisions are made and how Parliament works.
Throughout the tour, we learned many interesting facts about the historic halls, chambers, and traditions that make the Houses of Parliament such an important part of British democracy. The children also took part in an engaging workshop, working collaboratively to deepen their understanding of the different parts of Parliament and the roles they play in shaping the country.
A particular highlight of the day was meeting our local MP, Antonia Bance. The children enjoyed asking thoughtful questions and learning more about her role in representing our local community.
Following our visit, we spent the afternoon sightseeing in the beautiful sunshine. The children enjoyed some time playing in St James’s Park and were thrilled to have a front-row view of the Changing of the Guard, thanks to the kindness of a police officer who helped us find the perfect spot.
By the end of the day, the children had walked over four miles, yet their enthusiasm never faded. As we made our journey home, everyone reflected on what had been a long but incredibly rewarding day filled with learning, exploration, and memorable experiences.
The staff would like to say a huge thank you to all of the children for their impeccable manners and outstanding behaviour throughout the trip. We were incredibly proud to receive compliments from members of the public, who commented on how polite, respectful, and well-behaved the children were.
Finally, thank you to all of our families for ensuring the children arrived at school so early and ready for the day ahead. Your support helped make this wonderful experience possible.
