Summer 2025 - Issue 15

Dear Families,

What a fantastic start to the final half term of the year!

Over the last two weeks, Year 4 have been taking part in the statutory Multiplication Timetables Check. We are so proud of the progress that they have made over the year - thank you for your support in helping your children practice at home. Results for these will be available at the beginning of July.

Leaders from across the Trust joined us last week to review school and the work that has been taking place over the year. This was an extremely positive opportunity to check that systems are in place to ensure the highest quality of education as well as plan our next steps for school improvement. All the children were fantastic and an absolute credit to you all, demonstrating their excitement for learning, pride in the school and excellent behaviour for learning. Special thanks to our Head Boy and Head Girl for giving an outstanding tour of the school!

Coming up this week, Year 6 will be going on a reward trip to celebrate their hard work during their time at Tipton Green and this year in particular following their SATs. The final results for the SATs are released at the beginning of July, which we will send home with the children.

Year 3 have been working hard in English recently, acting as reporters to create podcasts. Click on the following links to hear some of their final pieces! https://www.tgjs.org.uk/computing

We have lots to still look forward to in the next few weeks including Sports Days, trips and welcoming our new Year 3 families to school. I hope to see lots of you over the following weeks for these events!

Parent Survey

At Tipton Green Junior School, we are always working hard to ensure that the school continues its drive for school improvement in order to provide the best quality provision for your children.  In order to help us to continue moving the school forward in these ever changing and difficult times, it is important that we take into account the opinions of other stakeholders in the school – children and their families.

Please just click on the link below to access a survey which helps us to ensure we continue to improve with your voice heard. We also appreciate positive comments so that we know what you feel has been valuable to your children this year. Alternatively, copy the link into your internet browser.

These surveys are anonymous and confidential, unless you would like a personal response from us. The survey is now active and will be closed on Friday 27th June 2025.

If you have any issues accessing the survey, please do not hesitate to contact us for advice.

Attendance

We track attendance weekly in school and monitor pupils attendance which is falling below 96%. Please consider Leave of Absence requests carefully and arrange a meeting with school before booking any time out of school during the term time. As we near the end of the school year, these last weeks are vital for learning before the children move up to the next year group as well as lots of exciting events such as trips and sports days. We want to ensure that we provide the best possible education we can and this starts with excellent attendance.

This week, our whole school attendance is 94.55%.

Cricket Tournament

Well done to our Year 6 boys and girls Cricket team who played in a tournament at the West Bromwich Dartmouth Cricket Club last week. Winning 7 out of 8 games and coming joint first, they only lost out to the overall winners by wickets.

What a fantastic achievement Year 6!

Sports Day

Having listened to concerns raised by parents last year during our Sports Days, we have made some changes to this years events. This year pupils will take part in all six events planned as a carousel of activities. To ensure that you have the best view of all activities, parents and carers will be able to watch the events from around the outside of the football pitch in order for us to maintain the safety for everyone.

Wednesday 18th June - 9.15am - Year 3

Wednesday 18th June - 2pm - Year 4

Tuesday 24th June - 9.15am - Year 5

Wednesday 25th June - 9.15am - Year 6

Please ensure that all the children have sunhats, suntan lotion and a water bottle as the weather forecast is set to be sunny over the next few weeks.

The gate at the back of the school by the football pitch will be open for parents at about 9.10am once all the children are on the football pitch and settled.

Mental Health Day

During Mental Health Week, pupils across the Trust came together to raise money for the charity 'Place2Be'. This valuable charity supports children and young people with their mental health ensuring that early intervention is at the heart of their work. While learning about the difficulties that children face, pupils in school raised money by coming into school 'Dressed to Express', wearing clothes that showed off their personalities, reminding us all what a diverse and caring community we live in. Thank you so much to all our families both at Tipton Green and across the Trust who supported us to raise a wonderful £1264.95.

'On behalf of everyone at Place2Be, I’d like to say a massive thank you for being part of Children’s Mental Health Week 2025 and for raising an incredible £1264.95! To put this into perspective, your generous contribution could help 79 children book their own appointment with a mental health professional, addressing issues such as anxiety, low mood, and self-harm. Your fundraising is making a real and lasting difference!'

Transition

Transition is an important part of school life towards the end of an academic year when pupils and staff alike are beginning to think about their new classes. This year, as we did last year, we will be mixing classes so that friendship groups are broadened as well as ensuring the best learning environment for all children. Staff have ensured that every pupil will have a friend from their previous class to support this transition.

Our transition morning will be earlier this year so that we are able to support any pupils that find this time more difficult by adding in additional transition activities if needed. Pupils will meet their new teacher and spend a morning as a new class on Tuesday 1st July. Teachers are already excited and planning lots of fantastic activities for them all to complete.
