Year 4 explored creative textile techniques by experimenting with tie-dye using elastic bands. They learned how different folding and binding methods produce unique patterns on fabric.
Circles were tied tightly to create dot effects
Scrunching the material led to a starburst pattern
Concertina folding formed striking line designs
Once bound, the fabric was carefully dampened and dye was applied with precision. The students were amazed by the vibrant results once the dyes set and the bands were removed!
All the dyed squares will be sewn together to create a colourful patchwork quilt – a collaborative piece celebrating their creativity and teamwork.
