This week, Tipton Green joined in celebrating National Storytelling Week, a special time dedicated to the magic of storytelling. Throughout the week, our students explored new worlds, sparked their imaginations, and connected with each other through reading. Year 6 have thoroughly enjoyed National Storytelling Week 2026. We have taken time to reflect on our favourite books and even enjoyed a special visit from Mr Grayson who captivated us with the tale of Tim O’Leary. Here

This term, Year 6 have been diving into the fascinating world of ancient civilisations, and one of the highlights of our learning has been our virtual journey to Chichén Itzá—one of the New Seven Wonders of the World ! Using Google Earth, we zoomed across the globe to the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico, where the incredible ruins of Chichén Itzá still stand today. Children worked in pairs to hunt for maths problems hidden around the classroom. They had to read each clue carefully, discuss their ideas, and work together to solve the problem before moving on to the next clue. This activity encouraged teamwork, reasoning and problem-solving skills, as well as building confidence in applying their maths knowledge in a fun and active way. The children showed great perseverance and enthusiasm throughout the challenge.

On Number Day, all children across the school took part in the Soccer Rocks competition on Times Tables Rock Stars. Children were excited and highly motivated as they answered multiplication questions at speed, earning points for their teams. The competition encouraged friendly rivalry, teamwork and resilience, with children challenging themselves to improve their accuracy and recall. Cooking club made delicious shortbread today. The children carefully followed the recipe and learnt important baking techniques, such as measuring ingredients, mixing, and kneading the dough. They practised kneading by pressing, folding and shaping the mixture until it came together smoothly. The children worked well together and showed great focus and teamwork throughout the session. Science Club embarked on a colorful experiment to investigate the effects of temperature on Skittles! The children were excited to see how the sweets would react when placed in warm versus cold water. What they discovered was both surprising and visually stunning!

Some of our children have been learning to play the violin and have been fascinated by the new skills they are developing. They learned how to hold the violin correctly in rest position and mount position, and practised a piece called “Pepperoni Pizza,” which uses notes that go up in pitch. They worked hard to play in time and together, listening carefully to one another and showing excellent focus and teamwork.

Year 4 ​ Our lovely visitor from this morning’s assembly stayed on to spend time with Year 4, where the children took part in a thoughtful and engaging question-and-answer session. They asked insightful questions about Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), learning about the influence he has and why he is so important to Muslims. The children listened carefully and showed great curiosity and respect as they deepened their understanding of Islam.

We were very lucky to welcome a special visitor into school who came to talk to the children about the upcoming Muslim celebrations of Ramadan and Eid. The visitor explained that Ramadan is a very important time for Muslims, when they fast, pray, show kindness to others and reflect on their actions. The children were able to see some religious items such a prayer mat, and the visitor explained how it is used during daily prayers and why prayer is important in Islam. They also

Children in Year 5 were asked to recreate the texture and impression of a wall on a polystyrene tile, which they then printed into their books. This activity links with the next lesson, where they will build on their work by adding a further piece of artwork inspired by the style of Banksy. The children used printing ink to create their prints, experimenting carefully with texture and pattern.

Year 3 children are doing their part to keep the school grounds clean! They were out on another litter-picking adventure, working together to ensure our school community remains tidy and inviting.

Year 4 have been exploring fabric dying techniques!

In the ECO Ambassadors’ first meeting of the academic year, they discussed new ways we can recycle more and reduce waste in school. One idea the children were particularly enthusiastic about was introducing a battery recycling bin — and they went ahead and ordered one themselves! Now, any used batteries we have in school will be placed in the battery bin provided. Batteries should not go into general waste, as they are a fire hazard in bin lorries and at landfill sites.

Cooking Club made a healthy spaghetti bolognese this week. The children peeled mushrooms and finely chopped them, along with peppers, before adding them to chopped tomatoes. They learnt how to hold vegetables correctly and how to cut them safely. Quorn mince was added to the sauce, and the spaghetti was carefully boiled. The children really enjoyed the session, with one saying, “I thought it was a great session because I’ve never made one before,” and another commenting, “I w

Year 3 have been learning about right angles as part of their NCETM maths mastery journey. They began by exploring turns, before investigating what makes an angle a right angle. They found out that there are 4 right angles in a full turn using their angle makers and angle checkers in small groups! They identified right angles within the classroom and have also applied their knowledge to show non-examples (an angle that is NOT a right angle) and have made these with their ang

Children in Year 3 have been taking great care of their school community by helping to keep our grounds clean and tidy. Armed with litter pickers and plenty of enthusiasm, the children worked together to collect rubbish and make a positive difference to their environment. This activity helped pupils understand the importance of looking after shared spaces and taking responsibility for their surroundings. They showed excellent teamwork and a real sense of pride in their school

Year 4 pupils took part in an exciting and creative animation workshop led by Engagedu, where they explored both digital drawing and stop‑motion animation techniques. The workshop began with pupils using iPads and a stylus to design their own stick‑figure characters using the app Flipkit. They learned how to duplicate their drawings, erase selected parts of the image, and make small changes to each frame. By repeating this process, pupils created simple animations of their s

Year 4 enjoyed a great PE lesson focusing on cricket fielding skills, learning how to create strong long bridges. The children worked together to roll the ball accurately and ensure it was stopped before rolling past them, showing excellent teamwork and control throughout the session.

Years 3 & 4 science club had lots of fun making earthquake proof structures. Using jelly sweets and cocktail sticks, we tested each structure to ensure the it could withstand earthquake conditions. The children all did really well and even managed to not eat any of the sweets!!

Cooking Club made easy one-bowl fudgy cocoa brownies using butter, sugar, cocoa powder, eggs, vanilla, flour and a pinch of salt, with groups adding chocolate chunks for extra richness. Pupils worked collaboratively to measure ingredients accurately, melt and mix safely, and follow the recipe in the correct order. They learned the importance of not overmixing and carefully monitoring baking times to achieve a fudgy centre and crisp, crinkly top. The brownies were ready in und
