Today in Cooking Club, the children made delicious quesadillas using Mexican-style wraps. First, the children peeled mushrooms and peppers and chopped them into chunks. They then added the vegetables and onions to canned tomatoes and Quorn chicken, along with some seasoning. The mixture was cooked on the stove until everything was soft and full of flavour. Tipton Green started the game with super intensity and made the game hard for Burnt Tree to get out of their defensive half. Great quick passing from our defensive positions allowed us to get in toe dangerous positions leading to quite a few shots on goal. 3-0 at half time was well deserved and credit to Tipton Green players because second half they made sure to work hard defensively to stop Burnt Tree attacks with the game ending 4-0 to Tipton Green.

Our reading ambassadors led an assembly at Silvertrees Infant School. Using the book Wombat Stew by Marcia K Vaughan and Pamela Lofts, they told the story about a very clever Dingo who had caught a wombat and decided to make a gooey, brewy, yummy, chewy wombat stew! This week at Cooking Club we baked delicious cookies using a simple homemade recipe. The children carefully measured the ingredients, mixed the dough, and shaped their own cookies before baking them. The recipe included: - 125g butter - 100g sugar - 1 egg - 1 tsp vanilla extract - 200g self-raising flour - 100g chocolate chips After mixing the butter and sugar, the children added the egg and vanilla, then stirred in the flour and chocolate chips. We took part in a fantastic online assembly with Michael Rosen and other well-known authors and illustrators. We listened to a range of stories based around the theme of food, exploring how food can be used in stories as either the problem or the solution. We also enjoyed a live “draw-along” session with an illustrator, who showed us how to create scenes from the stories and inspired us to start thinking about ideas for our own food-themed tales.

Rounds Green 3 Tipton Green 0. Very difficult game against top of the league that have scored 26 goals in 3 games. This was our second league match and our girls played tremendously well to stay in the game and even have some chances at the end. Comments from our team were that Rounds Green were very strong but they enjoyed a battle which hopefully helps us going into our next match.

Year 5 visited Carding Mill Valley as part of their geography topic, Raging Rivers . The trip provided a fantastic opportunity for the children to bring their classroom learning to life in a real-world setting. Throughout the day, the children took part in three exciting activities: a guided walk, a detailed river study and river dipping. Today, Year 3 had a talk from Mrs Wise and Mrs Gilmore about NCPCC's Pantasaurus. Pantasaurus is a friendly dinosaur character created by the NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) to help young children understand an important message about keeping their bodies safe.

Over the next few weeks in Wool Craft Club, we will be learning how to make colourful pom poms using wool. Once the children have created a collection of pom poms, they will design and make their own wool craft piece. They can choose to join their pom poms together to create a 3D design, or attach them to card to create a textured picture. We’re looking forward to seeing their creativity shine!

This week in Cooking Club, they made their own super easy hummus by following the recipe step by step. They gathered all the ingredients and used the food processor to blend the chickpeas, lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, cumin, salt and sesame oil. They carefully added some of the chickpea liquid to make the hummus smooth and creamy. They then cut up fresh peppers, cucumber, carrots and pitta bread to taste with their hummus. Year 3 and 4 had a fantastic healthy eating workshop with the school nurses this week. 🥗 The children learnt about the Eatwell Plate and how it helps us to understand the different food groups our bodies need to stay healthy. They explored how fruits and vegetables should make up a large part of our meals, why carbohydrates give us energy, how protein helps our bodies grow and repair, and why dairy supports strong bones and teeth. Children have been having a wonderful time improving our Secret Garden. They have worked incredibly hard to help tidy and care for the space, showing great enthusiasm and responsibility. It has been fantastic to see their teamwork in action. The children supported one another, shared tools sensibly and worked together to complete different tasks. We are so proud of their positive attitudes, cooperation and the effort they put into improving our special outdoor space!
